Beginning any form of therapy can seem daunting, but experience shows that people find couples therapy even harder. Being able to talk through your fears, dreams and inner most thoughts to a stranger on your own is easier than having your partner sat in the same room. The fear is that they may disagree with your opinion, or that you may end up feeling guilty for hurting one another’s feelings. Some believe that it will make matters worse. If you can get over the initial fear of entering couples therapy, you may find that there is a sense of relief, even after one session, because something is finally being done.
